About Alicante Airport (ALC)

Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is the principal gateway to the Costa Blanca. It is currently one of Spain’s busiest and fastest-growing airports, particularly popular with British holidaymakers.

Address: 03195 L’Altet, Alicante, Comunitat Valenciana, Spain.

Telephone: (+34) 91 321 1000

Online portal: Queries / Complaints

Airport Code: ALC

Location: About 9 km (5.5 miles) southwest of Alicante city centre in the municipality of Elche. See also: Alicante Airport Map.

Getting there: A taxi or car journey to/from the city usually takes around 15–20 minutes. The C6 bus runs every 20 minutes and takes roughly 25–30 minutes to reach the city centre.

A Brief History

The airport opened in May 1967 and underwent significant expansion in the 1970s and 1990s as tourism in the region exploded. The old two-terminal facility was replaced by a new modern four-story structure in 2011.  With only one terminal, Alicante-Elche Airport is extremely easy to navigate.

Flight & Passenger Statistics

The airport recently closed its most successful year on record. In 2025, a total of 19,950,394 passengers travelled via Alicante Airport (up 8.5% from 2024). The airport is currently on track to exceed 20 million passengers in 2026, with February 2026 already recording its busiest-ever figures for that month (1.22 million travellers).
