The rise in passenger numbers has been accompanied by a significant increase in flight operations. In 2004, the airport facilitated 71,387 take-offs and landings. By 2024, this figure had climbed to 116,270 operations, marking a 62.9% increase over the 20-year period.
The surge in demand for flights to and from Alicante Airport is clearly visible in the winter season’s flight schedules. For the winter season running from 27 October 2024 to 29 March 2025, airlines have scheduled 7.3 million seats, an increase of 12.8% compared to the same season in 2023-2024. Additionally, Alicante-Elche Airport offers 16 additional routes compared to the previous winter season, further enhancing connectivity and choice for travellers.

In 2004, its position as the 7th busiest airport in Spain reflected its growing potential. By 2014, it had climbed to 6th place, and in 2024, its status as Spain’s 5th busiest airport underscores its importance in the national and international aviation landscape.
